The first Astronomy club was announced by Nojum monthly. 'Astronomy club' was therein defined as “a place for gathering amateur astronomers, more communications and scientific cooperation”.
Tehran Astronomy Club was held on Wednesday, January 23, 2002.Department of physics in Tehran University was the host for more than 200 participants in the first Astronomy club. Dr. Sobouti, director of the amateur branch of Iran Astronomy Society, made the inaugurating speech. The club was followed by four workshops and a slideshow.
For more than a year Tehran’s astronomy club was the only monthly club in Iran.Short after, a young and active group named ToosSky formed in Mashhad in northeastern Iran. They started their activities with star parties in a small village. On February 27, 2003, ToosSky held the first Astronomy club in Mashhad. Participants were amateur astronomers from Mashhad and suburbs, most of them high school students. Right after ToosSky's first club, they scheduled a messier marathon maneuver to prepare its members for the national messier marathon.
The first monthly Astronomy club in Isfahan was held on May 19, 2003. Adib Astronomical Society had the main role in organizing the club, though other groups have been also effective in the continuation of Isfahan's monthly Astronomy club.
ParsSky Astronomical news Agency (www.ParsSky.com / www.ParsSky.net), Nojum Magazine's official website (www.Nojum.ir) and the official website of Astronomical Society of Iran, Amateur Committee (www.Asiac.ir) are responsible for publishing monthly announcements of Astronomical clubs in Iran.
